NYC Media Lab gets funding from Time Warner Cable, Hearst, HBO

The NYC Media Lab, a fledgling research group developed by New York City Economic Development and two universities, has received funding commitments from several top pay-TV providers and programmers. Time Warner Cable, Hearst, HBO and Verizon have each agreed to provide $50,000 annually for three years. These paying charter members in return will be able to benefit from the group's research even when it is conducted for other firms.
