Officials: N.Y. is at greater risk of wildfires amid dry weather

New York's springtime ban on residential brush burning is in effect as the Department of Environmental Conservation says the state faces an increased risk of wildfires because of persistent dry weather. Seasonal fires in the state have declined 35% since the burning prohibition began in 2009, said Joe Martens, commissioner of the department.
