Precision Medicine Summit focuses on access to data

The recent OME Precision Medicine Summit at the University of California, San Francisco, attracted business leaders such as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Salesforce.com founder Marc Benioff, as well as health care leaders including NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins and FDA Administrator Dr. Margaret Hamburg. Hot topics included widening public access to medical research results, mining data from failed clinical trials so researchers can learn from others' mistakes and creating interoperability standards for health care data. UCSF launched a public awareness campaign and website, meforyou.org, asking people to commit to the idea of sharing information.
