Revenue from wind farm helps keep N.Y. school maintain programs

Thanks to the Maple Ridge Wind Farm, the Lowville Academy in New York state, is able to continue offering programs that would have been discontinued because of state budget cuts. The wind farm has been paying the school $3 million annually as part of its payment in lieu of taxes agreement. "At a time when state aid has been going down, it's helped provide an additional revenue that we wouldn't have had," said Cheryl Steckly, the school's superintendent.
