Sensor mats enable tailored pressure-ulcer prevention

Sensor-equipped mats placed on hospital beds to prevent pressure ulcers significantly reduced the risk of tissue damage, according to a study in the journal Wounds. The mats sense and display specific areas of pressure, and provide feedback to caregivers and patients, enabling patients at risk for pressure ulcers to be turned at the appropriate intervals.
