Tackling the IT skills gap starts in elementary school

Addressing the shortage of talented tech workers means selling IT careers to students when they are still in elementary school, but to successfully make the pitch to a demographic whose idea of the perfect job involves fighting fires or catching bad guys, educators need to learn to make IT exciting, experts say. According to Tamar Newberger of virtualization security firm Catbird and others, hiring teachers who are technologically literate and equipping classrooms with hip tools such as iPads are good places to start.
