Vodafone announces plan to cut roaming charges

Vodafone Group said it would cut international roaming charges by 40% by April 2007 as part of an effort to pre-empt a European Commission plan to impose strict regulations on carriers. The carrier also offered to carry wholesale traffic from other operators' customers at lower rates. Regulators said they would forge ahead with their plan despite Vodafone's move.
