12 comorbidities raise risk of death for COPD patients

Twelve significant but easily identified comorbidities are associated with a higher risk of death for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The list, published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, includes certain cancers, pulmonary fibrosis, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, ulcers, cirrhosis, diabetes with neuropathy and anxiety.
