Pa., W.Va. gas drilling created $4.7B in revenue in 2011

Energy firms realized about $4.7 billion in 2011 revenue from drilling in the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, according to an Associated Press analysis. The petrochemical industry is expected to benefit in jobs and revenue from the nearly 1.4 trillion cubic feet of Marcellus gas produced in the two states last year. "We are producing record levels of natural gas," said Oppenheimer analyst Fadel Gheit.
