Pike: Smart-meter deployments to stabilize as utilities meet goals

Analysts expect a dip in U.S. smart-meter installations in the next two years as major federally funded deployments in California and elsewhere come to a close with millions of units installed. According to Pike Research, the utilities sector can expect to see a 42% drop in smart-meter deployments through 2013, then a gradual increase starting in 2014. Pike forecasts that by 2020, 55% of the world's electrical meters will be smart, up from just 18% in 2012.
