Ariz. city council learns approved raise will cost $2.5M more

The Tuscon, Ariz., City Council is criticizing budget planners after members found out that a pay raise of 55 cents per hour will cost taxpayers $2.5 million more than originally reported. Councilors approved the raise under the impression that it would cost $5.3 million, but the actual cost is $7.8 million.
