CN, CP to bolster 2013 capex plans

Canadian National and Canadian Pacific have raised their infrastructure investment programs for this year. CN hopes to "improve network resilience" through additional "capacity enhancement projects in its Edmonton-Winnipeg corridor," while CP will add around $75 million to $100 million to its spending plan. "By taking these opportunities now to further improve our operations, we will be better positioned to respond to our customers' shipping needs," said CP CEO Hunter Harrison.
