Custodians battle gum on Wash. campus

The 75 custodians at Western Washington University spend about 40 hours each year cleaning up chewing gum on campus, said Anthea Jones, who oversees academic custodial services. Bladed tools, commercial degreasers and ionized water are among the products used to scrape gum off of floors, sidewalks and other surfaces.
