Don't pay broadcast "failure tax," A+E's ad chief says

A+E Networks believes its channels are the right place for marketers to invest the $1 billion that may be left on the table at the broadcast upfront because of audience losses, ad sales chief Mel Berning said at A+E's upfront. "If you're tired of paying a failure tax, we have lots of successful programs for you to invest in," Berning said. Next season's plans call for History to unveil the unscripted series "Daredevils," along with scripted miniseries "Sons of Liberty" and "Houdini."
