Euro, Latin woes hurt telecoms; Deutsche Telekom sees U.S. gains

Deutsche Telekom saw some improvements in its U.S.-based T-Mobile wireless operation, but the German telecom and Spain's Telefonica both reported lower first-quarter revenues, largely because of the lingering European economic crisis. The telecoms also cited tougher regulations on the continent. Deutsche Telekom's European revenue fell 6.9%. Telefonica suffered a 16% decline in Spanish revenue as total revenue dropped 8.8%.
