There are a number of obstacles to fulfilling American inventor Thomas Edison's 100-year-old vision of schools transformed by innovation and technology, write Darrell West and Joshua Bleiberg of the Brookings Institution. In this blog post, they suggest that schools overcome these obstacles by using technology that empowers teachers. They also suggest that teachers treat technology integration as part of lesson planning, embrace open-source technologies, use online education portfolios and embrace the Common Core State Standards.
