Ill. school brings in speech-pathology students for reading interventions

Eagle Ridge Elementary School in Silvis, Ill., has partnered with St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, to place speech-pathology students in the school to offer reading interventions. The college students completed their clinical work requirements for graduation by assessing the school's 40 kindergartners -- 30 of whom entered school unprepared for reading instruction -- and working with them on language development and literacy skills.
