Judge: N.C. county can use bond proceeds for remediation work

A North Carolina Superior Court judge has granted Henderson County's request to address erosion problems at a defunct subdivision by using as much as $262,000 in proceeds from a $6 million performance bond. The bond was forfeited by the developers, who filed for bankruptcy protection. "We need to do something as soon as we can, before it degrades to a worse condition," the judge said.
