NYC, union draw up separate plans for teacher evaluations

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the city's teachers' union will have until June 1 to reach an agreement on a new method for evaluating teachers before Gov. Andrew Cuomo steps in and imposes a system on the district. The two sides have said they will submit separate plans to state officials today. The city already has forfeited $260 million in state funds for education after failing to reach an agreement.
