Renovation of building achieves 46% reduction in energy use

The renovation of and wing addition to an old building in Nashville, Tenn., has reduced its annual energy consumption by 46%. Built to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the renovation included "solar hot water, a ground source heat pump, automated electrical monitoring, LED illumination and smart operable windows." As part of the Nashville Riverfront Master Plan, the building also uses a rainwater-capture system for irrigation.
