Renovation of Daytona Speedway in Fla. hits a speed bump

A plan to upgrade the 54-year-old Daytona International Speedway suffered a major setback when the Florida Legislature failed to act on a bill that would have given tax breaks to DIS if it invested at least $250 million in improvements. "We are clearly disappointed by the outcome last week in the Florida Legislature. We made a very compelling case for what could have been a successful public-private partnership with the State of Florida to create jobs and generate real economic growth," said Joie Chitwood, DIS president.
