Report: Stimulus grants give needed boost to many libraries

The broadband stimulus program has helped 20% of the nation's public libraries, according to the American Library Association, which says the funds have been a critical shot in the arm at a time when few localities are increasing their budgets. The ALA says the so-called BTOP grants have helped rural communities in several states build videoconferencing facilities. The group also noted that the funds have helped provide access to job databases and other online employment resources.
