Senate considers bill to stem pending helium shortage

The Senate is considering a bill similar to the House version to avoid a helium shortage. However, the Senate version differs in that it phases in auctions of helium. Suppliers say the House version, which mandates earlier auctions, could create uncertainty in supply. Without Congressional action, helium sales by the Bureau of Land Management could cease this year.
