Severe hypoglycemia tied to worse quality of life in diabetes

Insulin-treated type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients with severe hypoglycemia events showed worse social functioning and quality of life scores compared with those who did not have any episodes, according to a study presented at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists annual meeting. Severe hypoglycemia was also associated with worse role-physical scores in type 1 diabetes and worse mental and general health scores in type 2 diabetes patients, researchers said.
