Social media part of Texas middle school's communication strategy

Social media is an important tool in helping educators connect with parents -- and each other, according to Carrie Jackson, a Texas middle-school principal. Jackson, who was named a 2013 Digital Principal by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, said she has found school Facebook and Twitter pages especially useful in allowing for two-way communication that can be difficult with traditional outreach, such as websites and newsletters.
