Studies link positive school climate to vast areas of education

Sustained positive school climate has a positive effect on everything from student achievement and teacher retention to risk prevention, health promotion and child development, according to researchers from the National School Climate Center and Fordham University. The researchers reviewed more than 200 studies and found, among other things, that a positive school climate also led to lower rates of absenteeism, substance abuse and psychiatric problems, while it improved self-esteem among middle-school students, education reporter Nirvi Shah writes in this blog post.
