BNSF $500M SCIG project approved by L.A. City Council

BNSF has received approval in an 11 to 2 vote from the Los Angeles City Council to build and operate the $500 million Southern California International Gateway project that would expand its footprint near the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The Council also certified the Class I's environmental analysis. "We are at a beginning point to make things better," said Councilman Ed Reyes. "If we don't move, two, three, four years from now, we could lose our competitive edge."
