House lawmakers spar on tax credits for renewable energy

Some Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives took aim at federal tax incentives for renewable energy during a hearing on grid reliability by the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power. Democrats on the panel countered that the GOP's opposition to renewable energy is a result of their unwillingness to address climate change, rather than a genuine need to improve grid reliability. "The majority appears to have called this hearing, in part, to invite attacks on renewable energy," said Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif.
