Marks & Spencer makes moves to modernize its online retail

Marks & Spencer has opened a 900,000-square-foot automated warehouse in the English village of Castle Donington that was built to fulfill up to 1 million online orders per day. The retailer's online sales are growing but not as quickly as those of rival Next, and next year M&S will move from an Amazon platform to an in-house system that will allow it to offer online retail in more overseas markets.
