Store associates at Modell's Sporting Goods are being equipped with iPads loaded with MICROS-Retail's miStore mobile point-of-sale software, as part of a move to better serve customers. Mobile point-of-sale is generally regarded as a cost-saver and a way to free up floorspace but mainly it's about improving customer experience and "having a faster time out of the store, particularly during the holidays," said Corey Gale, director of marketing for retail at MICROS.
