NYC official: Capacity-building services boost MWBEs' competitiveness

New York City's capacity-building programs teach minority- and women-owned business enterprises how to compete more effectively by offering advice on bonding, paperwork and various aspects of business management, says an official with the city's Small Business Services Department. While the programs have gained some praise from participating businesses, others are dissatisfied with the number of contracts awarded to MWBEs.
