Pet ownership may help curb cardiovascular risk, AHA says

Having a pet, particularly a dog, is linked to reduced levels of blood pressure and cholesterol and less obesity, according to a statement released by the American Heart Association in the journal Circulation. A study showed that adults who owned a dog were 54% more likely to meet recommended levels of exercise than their peers without dogs.
