Single-embryo IVF transfer yields better neonatal outcomes

Transfer of a single embryo during in vitro fertilization led to substantially lower odds of twin births, low birth weight and neonatal intensive care unit admissions compared with a double-embryo transfer, U.S. researchers found. The findings, based on 175 women who underwent IVF, were presented at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists meeting.
