Solar power provides an assist for rickshaw drivers

A solar-powered rickshaw uses a 250-watt motor that weighs in at only 12 pounds, helping to render the entire vehicle lighter than a typical rickshaw and lightening the day's task for its operators while not harming the environment. The rickshaw, developed by PEC mechanical engineers in India, still requires pedaling, with the electric motor serving as an assist, but two passengers can be carried at a top speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
