Study: Fluoride may help teeth repel harmful bacteria

Researchers have discovered that fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by keeping bacteria from sticking to teeth. Fluoride has long been thought to help teeth resist acid, but the findings by physicists at Saarland University in Germany show it may make tooth enamel more negatively charged, which increases germ resistance.
