Turkey seeks creation of domestic nuclear industry

Turkey intends to establish a domestic nuclear energy industry over the next 10 years as part of its efforts to strengthen energy security, an official said. Turkey contracted with foreign firms for its first two nuclear plants, but a proposed third facility should be developed mostly using Turkish expertise, said Energy Minister Taner Yildiz. "We will wait for the third plant in order to accumulate our nuclear experience," he said.
