Maine district seeks to make meals healthier under new policies

School nutrition professionals in Portland, Maine, are preparing to implement new nutrition policies approved last month. City schools already have been adhering to the requirements of the Healthier Schools U.S. Challenge -- part of first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" campaign -- and schools also abide by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation beverage standards. "(We want) to make the healthy choice the easy choice," said Chanda Turner, school health coordinator. "It should be easy for people to choose to be healthy and to make healthy choices."
