$45M is stolen in first global cyberattack on ATMs

A worldwide team of cyberthieves stole $45 million from ATMs in dozens of cities over seven months. Details of the first-of-its-kind, high-tech robbery became public when prosecutors unsealed an indictment against eight men accused of carrying out the portion of the attack in the New York City area. "This was a 21st-century bank heist that reached through the Internet and spanned the globe," said Loretta Lynch, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
