American Airlines owes $24.9 million in safety fines

American Airlines will pony up $24.9 million to settle $162 million in potential fines from the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA said that the carrier did not obey safety regulations pertaining to electrical wiring on planes, along with other issues.
