Editorial: Regulators need to approve San Onofre restart plan

Southern California Edison's San Onofre nuclear plant in California, which has been offline since January 2012 because of steam-generator issues, deserves a second chance, writes the editorial board of the San Diego Union-Tribune. SCE said it might shut down the plant if federal regulators reject its request to restart the facility's Unit 2 reactor. "We hope regulators say yes and that this is the first step to eventually bringing the plant back up to full operating speed," the board writes.
