IRS acknowledges that it singled out conservative groups

The Internal Revenue Service paid special attention to conservative groups during the runup to the 2012 election, subjecting them to additional reviews to see whether they were abusing their tax-exempt status, says Lois Lerner, the IRS's head of tax-exemption oversight. "That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate," she said. "The IRS would like to apologize for that."
