IRS announces anti-tax-evasion data-sharing effort with U.K., Australia

The Internal Revenue Service announced on Thursday that the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia have obtained data about a multitude of trusts and companies that are holding assets on behalf of individuals around the globe. The information includes the entities' owners and advisers. The three countries are offering to share the data with tax authorities in other jurisdictions to help combat offshore tax evasion.
