Tesco explores India expansion under new ownership rules

Tesco executives met with India's trade minister recently to get more information about new rules governing investments by foreign retailers. Multi-brand retailers such as Wal-Mart and Tesco, the latter of which already has a presence in the country under a franchise agreement with Tata Group's Star Bazaar, have expressed interest in opening owned stores but haven't yet submitted any proposals.
