At the moment, it is difficult to separate mobile commerce from mobile content, primarily because a large percentage of m-commerce sales come from purchases of mobile content such as ringtones, games and wallpaper. However, aggregated data in eMarketer's eStat Database suggest that is set to change. Over the next few years, the global mobile commerce market will swell, largely on the back of micropayments for things like ticket purchases and POS transactions. But just because wireless users may be buying their movie tickets with their phones does not mean they will forsake ringtone and game downloads: mobile entertainment will still be big in five years.
