In test, AT&T expands optical fiber capacity 25%

Working with NEC and Corning, AT&T has realized a bandwidth rate of 32 terabits per second in a test of its optical-fiber transmission capacity the telecom conducted over a simulated 580-kilometer connection. The telecom noted that bandwidth-pushing efforts were needed because network traffic had been increasing about 45% a year.
