Verizon Wireless will back laws to stop texting while behind the wheel

Verizon Wireless will lobby state governments to enact legislation that would make it illegal for people to use text-messaging features while they are driving, said the carrier's general counsel. Verizon Wireless successfully backed efforts in California to enact a law that requires drivers to use hands-free devices while talking and bans them from texting.
