HHS panel examines gaps in NHIN privacy

An HHS panel is considering whether existing legal and business requirements can protect patient data transmitted by third-party organizations via NHIN Direct and whether new standards may be needed to close any gaps. "Whatever the additional requirements would be for those organizations, whether from the policy side or potentially legally, we need to make sure that there is public trust," a panel member said.
