Regulators to discuss progress of FSOC with Senate panel

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to testify before the Senate Banking Committee about the progress of the Financial Stability Oversight Council. Bernanke, whose remarks have already been published, said the Fed plans to propose rules for systemically important financial institutions in the next few months. "We anticipate putting out a package of proposed rules for comment this summer," Bernanke said. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Gary Gensler, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Sheila Bair and Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro also will testify.
