Global partnership seeks to fight cassava virus

Researchers around the world are stepping up their efforts to fight viruses that can devastate cassava crops in Africa. The root is ground into flour, used as a biofuel and brewed into beer. The 22 participating agencies will work to eradicate the virus, research ways to make the plant resistant to the virus and provide virus-free seeds to farmers.
