Drug industry aims to halt California prescription ballot initiative

The pharmaceutical industry is suing in an attempt to stop a potential ballot initiative that would force manufacturers to lower prescription drug prices for California residents. Although the drug industry plans to offer discounts to low- and moderate-income people, it says this proposal will illegally penalize nonparticipating companies by making it more difficult for their drugs to be prescribed by the state's program.
